FortisBC Values AddressBC

FortisBC’s Conflation Project will adjust its gas facilities data in GIS to new and more accurate cadastral landbase data.

A key component for the success of the Conflation Project is to have spatially accurate land-base and address data available, which are provided by ICIS members. Local Government participation in AddressBC will provide FortisBC and other ICIS members with an accurate, accessible and province-wide address source so that projects like the Conflation Project can succeed.

The Conflation Project is well underway in Vancouver Island and plans to roll-out to the Interior BC through July and August, followed by the Lower Mainland in September and November 2011.

To find out more about FortisBC’s Conflation Project and its importance for your area please contact Piet Nooij (604) 592-7622.

Sunshine Coast RD Awarded the First CivicSpatial Grant for AddressBC

The sun really does shine on the Sunshine Coast including the folks working at the Regional District as they are the first recipient of CivicSpatial funding for AddressBC.

The SCRD will use the funding to help them do some conversion work to get their data ready for AddressBC.

Most local governments are looking to the upcoming AddressBC production system as a great way to share their address data in a consistent, accessible format as well as utilizing the versatility of the AddressBC data model to represent some of their more complex addresses.

All ICIS Local Government or First Nation members are eligible for funding for participation in AddressBC. And the application process couldn't be easier!

Use the AddressBC Online Application form found here. If you have any questions please contact Ann Archibald, Program Coordinator.
